Concept 6 of 11
Service Robots
A service robot moves things people would otherwise carry all day. The feature here is the base, not an arm. A flat tray on a wheeled cart holds folded linens, parts, or meal trays and follows a hallway.
Map the route
Walk the hall before you program it. Doors, elevators, and the places a cart already parks become the stops. The robot needs a wide enough path and a spot to wait when a person is passing.
Set the load
The tray in the photo carries linens. The same base can carry bins in a plant or samples between labs. Keep the load low so the cart stays upright on a turn.
Hand the work back to people
The robot stops at the door. A person unloads it. That split is the point of a service robot indoors. It removes the walking, and the staff keep the judgment about what belongs in the room.
